Auto 99C

Course Description:  Auto 99C begins in January with the focus on operation and diagnosis of Ignition Systems including Distributor Systems (DI) and Distributorless Ignition Systems (EI).  Some of the DI systems that are covered include GM HEI, GM High Voltage Spark (HVS), Honda Electronic Ignition, Ford Thick Film Ignition (TFI) and Chrysler Electronic Ignition Systems.  Examples of EI Systems that are covered are Waste Spark (most manufacturers), Coil On Plug (COP) for most manufacturers, Coil Near Plug (GM) and Cassette Ignition (GM).  The focus is on diagnosing no-starts, hard starts, and various driveability concerns of the ignition systems.  At the end of 99C, many vehicles are puposely "bugged" for students to diagnose and repair.

Preparation for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) examination in areas A8 and L1.
