Steve TylerSteven Tyler directs De Anza’s “Daddios” evening jazz ensembles. He earned his Bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge, and his Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Southern California. He worked for many years as a freelance musician in the Los Angeles area and toured as the lead trombonist for the orchestras of Mel Tormé, Bill Watrous and Harry James. Mr. Tyler has served on the faculty at the Dick Grove School of Music in Studio City, CA, Los Angeles City College, and the School for Music Vocations at Southwestern Community College in Creston, IA. His music for big band is published by UNC Jazz Press, and he is active as a bandleader, performer, adjudicator, composer, arranger and educator.
