Artist Report Format (Music 1D)
Artist Report Format
Your report may be on any artist or group. The individual artist may be a vocalist, composer, instrumentalist, producer, arranger or band.
The body of the report must be at least 3-5 pages long (double spaced) with margins one inch (top, bottom, left and right). Keep in mind that if you include a three inch margin on the first page (or three inches missing on page three) of the body of the report, that missing portion will be deducted from the total points possible for your report. On the title page of your report include: your name, the instructor’s name, the date, course and name of the artist or group you did your report on. As well, you must include a sources cited page (bibliography). You may use as your sources: books, periodicals or websites. If you do not include this page, your report will be considered incomplete and will not receive a grade. Also keep in mind that if you plagiarize any portion of your report, you will not receive a grade and you will not have another chance to re-do the report. If you state specific information or facts about the artist ,even if it is not a verbatim quote, you must state where you found the information. As far as content is concerned, your report should obviously include information about your artist’s music which would include their influences, their approach to their art and possibly whom they influenced. Most importantly, do your report on an artist or group you find interesting. Don’t just randomly pick your topic. For the oral portion of your report you may include one short excerpt (recording) to accompany your presentation.
