Bonjour, I am a member of the Foreign Languages Faculty at De Anza College. If you want to know more about me, see my Bio page. In Fall 2014, I will be teaching two classes:
1) FR1 will meet everyday in Room L61 from 8:30 AM to 9:20 AM.
2) FR1 will meet only on Saturdays. This class starts on September 27, from 9 AM to 1:45 PM in Room L61.
The REQUIRED MATERIAL for these classes is:
VIS-A-VIS package with the following components:
VIS-A-VIS textbook, 6th edition, by Amon, Muyskens & Omaggio Hadley, Mc-Graw Hill, ISBN 9781259391491. (The package comes with a code that will be necessary to go on line to do your homework). Be aware that if you buy a cheaper version of the 6th edition book the code might not be included, and overall it will cost you more to buy the code separately. Also, the book comes in a “loose” version and a standard, three holes binder will be helpful to keep the book together.
Vis-à-Vis package is available at De Anza Bookstore and Premier Off Campus Textbooks across De Anza on Stevens Creek Blvd. (Again if you decide to buy your book on line make sure that it comes with the code that you will need to do the homework).
Syllabus, exams reviews, quizzes, extra practices will be sent to you via email, so please, when registering, provide Admissions with a correct, working email address since no copied material, beside chapters exams and final will be provided.
Fall 2014 Office Hour: Tuesday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

*If you need a prerequisite for FR2 or FR3, here are the steps that you need to follow:
Students wishing to enroll in a World Language at Level 2 or higher, but who have not completed the prerequisite course(s) at De Anza, must go through the prerequisite clearance process in order to have the block on their registration lifted.
Here is a link to general info on De Anza's web site about World Languages Prerequisite Clearance:
And here is a direct link to the World Languages Equivalency Evaluation form that you need to submit:
In addition to the Equivalency Evaluation Form, students must show documentation of having completed the prerequisite. High school or college transcripts will be sufficient documentation. A photocopy or pdf is fine. If you do not have documentation, please refer to the World Languages Equivalency Evaluation form, above.
Please submit the World Languages Equivalency Evaluation Form, as well as any supporting documentation, directly to me via email. If necessary, we can meet in person at De Anza.
If it is determined that you have met the prerequisite, I will ask the Assessment Office to clear you to register for French 2, or 3 and they will contact you by email when the clearance has been entered.
Thanks for your interest in our French program. Feel free to contact me and if you have other questions email Mrs Karst at: Karstlaura@fhda.edu
