[DeAnza CIS50] WELCOME to CIS 50: Introduction to Computers, Data Processing, and ApplicationsWELCOME to CIS 50: Introduction to Computers, Data Processing, and Applications. It is my pleasure to be your instructor in this course.
CIS 50: Introduction to Computers, Data Processing, and Applications focuses on the basic terms and concepts of computer information systems (IS). We will explore important IS trends. The activities of the the course examine using systems development to build information systems. We discuss the functions and components of an information system including applications software, systems software, telecommunications, networks, the Internet and Web. We will also consider the social and organization issues of information systems today and look to the future of IS.
This course is an ONLINE COURSE. There are no on-campus meetings.
The course includes lots of reading, discussing, critical thinking, and web-based research. Course format is question-based student-led discussions and collaborative group projects.

GETTING STARTED
CIS 50: Introduction to Computers, Data Processing, and Applications
So, now you are ready to get started. A welcome message has been posted inside the course. Please read Welcome to CIS50. Visit the forums and introduce yourself to the class. Then proceed to the Assignments for Topic 1. Introductions and personal learning.
The course is divided into topics. Be sure to read the Notes and Assignments for each topic. The assignments, quizzes, discussions and other activities are listed.
The Topic 1. assignments are due Thursday of this week, so the introductions and connections get started right away.
The Syllabus includes the schedule of due dates for the course. The syllabus for the course is online. Please read it and keep a copy for future reference.

account is automatically activated after your registration for the course has been processed by DeAnza Admissions.
NOTE: If you are a late add, you will not have access to DeAnza

DROP POLICY
If you do not login with 10 days from the first day of the quarter,
you will be dropped from the course. You will be dropped if your
participation and assignment submission are inactive for more than two
weeks or if the quality of your participation is unacceptable.
