MEET Grant Update2005.9.28 The Digitals are coming...
Subjective:
Big thanks to Blaine Morrow and the folks at CCC Confer. I did a small online meeting to present my ideas and get feedback from my CSUEB students and my DeAnza colleagues. Blaine and Catherine asked if I would present the "finished" version on August 30 as the first Webinar in their Fall series. I am honored to be the kick-off event.
Objective:
My participants and presenters are still taking a long time to get logged into the web site and connected by phone. I have made some suggestions to CCC Confer to rearrange the information in the emails sent out - perhaps that will eliminate some misunderstanding and speed up the process.
The CCC Confer meetings to review, brainstorm and practice the material for The Digitals webinar have gone well. Lots of suggestions for content and presentation techniques have been identified and incorporated.
I invited Letha Jeanpierre, DeAnza Dean of Business and Computer Systems, to be my guest at a CCC Confer meeting to discuss Supervision in Online Teaching. We had an outline slide but no formal presentation slides. Students were expecting a more formal lecture. However, the questions from the audience were good, and the meeting was successful overall.
Assessment:
The project is moving along, thanks to the encouragement and assitance of the CCC Confer team.
Plan:
During my Fall CIS 2 Computers and Society class, I will be getting student input and feedback. This information will be used to augment and update the presentation. I will be working with my division and the Distance Learning Center to schedule additional workshop times for DeAnza faculty. The archive and presentation notes will be made available on the web for anyone interested in the material.
