Web Holdings I have some fairly extensive web holdings, centered around (1) My writing text for argumentative writing (2) My Viet Nam Conflict pages, many of which support the teaching of Critical thinking about the Viet Nam Conflict and Nguyen Du's THE TALE OF KIEU, and (3) Course webpages.
This page links to those sites
Swensson's Argumentative Apocalypse (SAA)
My Argumentative Writing text is found at http://lore.fhda.edu/faculty/swensson/index.html
Useful sections are:
Unit 3: The Body Paragraph
Unit 4: The Argumentative Theme
Unit 5: Logic
Unit 6: Documentation/Grammar Guide
Unit 7: Student Success
Unit 8: Multiculturalism
Unit 9: Editing Skills
Unit 10: Analyzing & Writing About Literature
Unit 6 also contains a link to a wonderful GRAMMAR GUIDE at Webster College.
At Webster College you can also find a wonderful GRAMMAR
GUIDE, complete with self-administered quizzes . This site
(http://webster.commnet.edu/grammar/index.htm)
will help you
with everything from run-on sentences to paragraph and
essay
organization. Once you have arrived at the guide, select the
subject matter
that you need the most help with. Download the
powerpoint and name it something
that you can find easily. After
reading the lesson and viewing the powerpoint,
take the
self-administered quizzes. Then move to the next area that you
need
work in. I would suggest allocating one hour per subject. This
is the BEST
tool to learn grammar, short of taking a class from
Carole Greene, that
I know.
