Checking Your Spelling

The Manila web site environment does not include its own spell-checking feature. However, you can use your word processing program or other text editor to check spelling. There are a variety of approaches to doing this, but here are two that are useful.

Method #1:

  1. Enter new text on the Edit Story page or edit existing text.
  2. Select and copy all of the text to your clipboard using the copy feature in your web browser.
  3. Switch to your word processing program and open a new document.
  4. Paste the text into the word processor document and spell-check it.
  5. Select and copy all of the corrected text in the word processor.
  6. Switch back to the Edit Story page in your browser.
  7. Select all of the Text and use paste to replace it with the text that you spell-checked in the other program.

Method #2:

  1. Launch your word processor (or text editor) application.
  2. Write the text for your web page in the word processor. (Remember that the formatting from your word processor will not carry over to your Manila site.)
  3. Spell-check the text.
  4. Select and copy the text from the web processor.
  5. Switch to your web browser program. Go to your home page, login, and click the Edit This Page button.
  6. Replace the content of the Text area on the browser page with the text you copied from your word processor.
