Principles of ManagementCOURSE DESCRIPTION
Students will learn the general principles of management: planning, organizing, staffing, motivation, controlling, decision-making, communications, and leadership. They will also examine the roles, functions and responsibilities of management; the external environments and their impact on management.

Term Paper
You are to type a term paper dealing with the external factors of business such as the economy, weather, competition, political, legal, etc. Consider your role as a manager of a company that must deal with the external factors such as the ones listed above. What can you do as a manager to prepare for such external factors? For example: How does the economy affect a manager's decisions and what can be done to prepare for economic changes? Take the same approach for all the external factors. Please keep in mind that I have not listed all the external factors. One external factor that is much in the news these days is terrorism. Another external factor is "Mad Cow" disease. What affect might this have on the beef industry or the fast food industry? Your paper is to be 5-7 pages in lentgth. Type it as a Word document and send it to me on or before the due date. See course greensheet for the due date.
