Comparative politics syllabus fall 2011
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs): Knowledge,
skills/abilities, and attitudes you will be able to demonstrate/perform
as a result of successfully completing this class: (1) compare and contrast how political decisions are shaped by institutions and processes in various political systems (2) compare and assess the impact of political decisions on individuals and groups in various political systems (3) appraise how participation in the political process varies across political systems
What's Going On Now (weeks 11 and 12): We have presentations scheduled for both days. Tuesday (12/6) -- Canada, Fiji, Iran, Jamaica, Colombia Thursday (12/8) -- Cambodia, Rwanda, India, Israel, Netherlands
The final will be Thursday (12/15), 11:30am-1:30pm.
Reading assignment: chapters 8, 9, and 10.
Writing assignment: The second writing assignment (wa2) is due Tuesday, 11/22. Details provided below. The final draft of the research paper will be due at the final exam. Be sure to review the evaluation worksheet below in writing the paper. Also, in preparation for the final, draft responses to the possible essay questions.
