Math Special Project Students wishing to pursue a topic of mutual interest (for example, applications of probability and/or advanced statistical methods; selected topics in number theory) may contact me to arrange for a 1-3 unit 'special course'.
A special project course entails for the student(s) and I to agree on a topic or topics and then arrange a series of meetings in order to achieve a prescribed goal. This could be fun and exciting, depending on the topic and the level of interest of the student. Please keep in mind that making the necessary arrangements to offer this type of course, and for myself and the interested parties to arrive at a mutual goal(s), could take a bit of time. It is best if students approach me at least 4-6 weeks prior to the start of the quarter in which they wish to enroll in a Special Project Course.
