EWRT 1A
EWRT (English Writing) 1A is the first course in the two-semester lower-division composition sequence. In this course, students will practice their reading, writing, and thinking skills. Students will develop clear arguments, plan well-organized, persuasive essays (which require drafting and revising), target various audiences, and develop style and voice. To hone our skills, we will read stimulating essays and short-stories on sundry topics and then write responses to critical, analytical questions about the assigned readings. Some outside research will be required. Come prepared to share your ideas about the topics at hand, to ask questions of the text, of your classmates, and of your teacher. Most importantly, come prepared to interrogate the text at hand both orally and in writing, and to learn.
