- Use quotations to prove your idea
- Revise a day after writing a draft (not right away)
- Include transitions from one topic to the next
- Stick to your main idea (don’t go off topic)
- Don’t have a title that repeats a phrase from your essay
- Use different vocabulary words (things)
- Use conjunctions./FANBOYS to connect ideas (more complex
sentences)
- For, so, yet, but, and, nor, or
- Use specific, detailed examples
- Know the writing topic
- Have someone else proofread your paper
- Avoid writing in the 1st person (Using “me” & “I”) I believe that.. In my opinion
- Use spellcheck/grammar check
- Use complete sentences, not choppy ones
- If you have trouble starting, don’t worry about
grammar/mechanics/organization
