Math 10

TEXT
The textbook for this course is available for purchase at the De Anza College Bookstore or for FREE download at: http://cnx.org/content/col10522/latest/ It is your responsibility to print out the necessary pages for the labs and projects we will do and bring them to class.

Section 24
Section 24 is a Math Performance Success class and is held for 2 hours a day from 1:30 - 3:40 PM Monday - Thursday. Generally, the first hour will be lecture introducing topics and the second hour will be group work on homework or worksheet problems or labs.

Sections 67Z and 68Z
Sections 67Z and 68Z are what we call hybrid courses. What is a Hybrid course? It is a Distance Learning course with a REQUIRED oncampus meeting once a week. Class sessions are for asking questions about homework, doing labs and taking quizzes and exams. I will do little, if any, lecturing but rather will be a resource to you as you learn the material via an online delivery system called Catalyst. Several in-class exercises will be done during the quarter and attendance will be taken at every session.

To access Catalyst, you must go to the site and logon. The site is https://catalyst.deanza.edu Your username is your 8-digit De Anza issued Student ID and your password is your birthday in mmddyyyy format. To access the course, click on the Math 10 course. You will be at the HOMEPAGE. "Wander" around to get familiar with the site. There are menu items to the left of the screen. The Calendar contains all the assignments. The first day you may access the class is Monday, September 21, 2009.

If you have not accessed Catalyst by midnight, October 2, 2009 YOU WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE COURSE as failure to access is an indication to me that you don't wish to be in this course.
