If you wish to contact me, I  respond faster to email, especially if you have a quick question. You can call me, but if I am with a student then I won't pick up. I encourage all of you to meet with me sometime during the quarter to ask any of your questions in person. You can even complete the final assignment - your ed plan with me in person.

Available at the Counseling Center front desk located on the second floor of the SCS building. This course charges a materials fee which you have already paid, so please come to the Counseling Center front desk and ask for your copy of the Orientation Guide and Event Planner.

Course Description: This online course provides students with an orientation to De Anza College including a review of De Anza's programs and policies. Emphasis will include major selection, GE review, and the completion of an Educational Plan.

Course Requirements: COUN 100 is a .5 unit,  Pass/No Pass, six-week course.  There are six lessons you must work through. To pass the course, you must complete ALL of the following:

* Complete the quiz at the end of each lesson. Each quiz has 5 questions and students must answer 4 of 5 correctly. Students may retake the quizzes as many times as necessary.
* Respond to each lesson's poll.
* Submit an Ed Plan. Your ed plan will include important information including placement test eligibility, your choice of major and general education pattern, degree objective (AA/AS or transfer), and your choice for classes for the upcoming quarter.

Course Goals:
Become familiar with De Anza college and reasons why students choose to attend here.
Learn about De Anza's policies and procedures such as how to add/drop courses and information on important dates, probation, time management, GPA calculation and more
Review Placement Tests information for English, ESL, Math and some science courses
Learn about degrees offered at De Anza and for four-year colleges.
Learn about major selection and how to find your major requirements
Be introduced to different General Education (GE) models
Review transfer information
Completion of an Ed Plan

Important Dates:
This class will be taught entirely online. All quizzes and an approved Ed Plan must be completed by Friday, May 30, 2009.
