| Spring Quarter Classes |
| |
This spring I am scheduled to teach five sections in the Music department. Here is a brief summary of the courses, along with some enrollment information as of the middle of finals week. (The enrollment info will become out of date quite quickly, so check the college registration site or contact me directly if you have questions about that.)
Introduction to Music: Music 1 - This course is a general education music "survey" class often taken by transfer and certificate program students to satisfy general education requirements. It may also be used to satisfy certain requirements in the music program. I teach two sections:
- 9:30-10:20 MTWTh - As of 3/30 there are seats available, though this will likely change now that the 10:30 section has filled.
- 10:30-11:20 MTWTh - As of 3/30 this section is full. Consider the 9:30 section or else consider one of the Music 7 classes which generally fulfill the same requirements.
Introduction to Electronic Music: Music 51 - This is an entry-level course in electronic music hardware, software, and techniques. Students create musical projects using the Logic Pro application and other tools. There are two sections of this class. As of Wednesday of final exam week there is still plenty of space in both sections - though the pattern for these classes is such that the enrollment picks up as the beginning of the term approaches.
- 12:30-2:10 MW
- 10:30 to 1:50 Friday-only
Intermediate Electronic Music: Music 8 - This is the followup course to Introduction to Electronic Music and most students who take it have completed the Intro course first. (It may be appropriate to go straight into the Intermediate class if you have comparable background experience - contact me to find out more.) There is one section of this class - space is available, though the rate of enrollment has picked up this week.
- 12:30-2:10 TTh
Email me with any questions you have about any of my courses.

Concerts This Weekend. Although I have not strongly recommended going to a concert quite this soon for your Concert Report assignment, I just updated the Concert List and there are quite a few good events this weekend. |

TEST #1 - Monday, May 19. The first of our two written tests is scheduled for next Monday, May 19. This test is based entirely on the two take-home quizzes that you recently completed. In order to be well-prepared for this test your goal should be to be ready to answer the quiz questions without using notes or other resources. In other words, review those quizzes! (And ask me to clarify anything you may be confused about.) |

Intro Class Quiz 2 is Due on Monday. The second take-home quiz for the Intro to Electronic Music class is due on Monday, May 12 at the start of class. Go to the Quizzes page (link in the sidebar) and print it out right away. |
