| Spring 2008 Music Classes |

Spring quarter 2007 classes begin on Monday April 7, and enrollment and registration is now underway for the upcoming term. Full class schedules and online admissions information may be found at the De Anza College web site.
During the spring term I am scheduled to teach the following classes:
- Music 1: Introduction to Music - This class is often taken by students to satisfy general education requirements for certificates or for transfer. It can also satisify some requirements for the certificate programs in music - e.g. the "music major." I teach two sections:
- MTWTh at 9:30-10:20 in A11.
- MTWTh at 10:30-11:20 in A11.
- Music 51: Introduction to Electronic Music - This class is available to all De Anza students who want to learn more about electronic music techniques and technologies. There are no prerequisites for the course. I teach two sections:
- MW at 12:30-2:10
- Friday-only at 10:30-1:50
- Music 8: Intermediate Electronic Music - This class is open to students who have completed the Music 51: Introduction to Electronic Music class and to other students who possess comparable background from other sources. I teach one section:
- TTh at 12:30-2:10

In addition to my classes, the Music Department offers a wide variety of other classes that are open to all De Anza students. These include Comprehensive Musicianship ("music theory"), Music Fundamentals, GE courses such as Intro to Jazz Styles, many vocal and instrumental performing groups (choirs, combos, band, orchestra, instrumental and vocal jazz, guitar, etc.) and beginning instruments and voice.

Spring 2008 Term

Open Lab Update - Thursday, June 26. The Electronic Music Lab will be open today (Thursday, June 26) for perhaps as long as about two hours starting around noon. Times are not precise since we are on the final exam schedule this week, but come at about that time if you want time for some last-minute work on your project. |

Open Lab Update - Wednesday, June 25. It appears that I will not be able to open the lab for substantial open sessions this morning since I have other commitments including an on-campus meeting and the completion of some grading for other classes.
I will try to open the room about a half hour or so before the 11:30 Music 8 final exam session, but students in the Music 51 class will not be able to work on final projects during the final.
There is some chance that I may be able to open the lab for about an hour after we finish the playback of Music 8 final projects. I estimate that this might be at about 1:00-2:00 or so.
I may be able to open the classroom for a short period during the middle of the day on Thursday, so stay tuned... |
