Fall 2011 Music 1A Course Grades Posted
I have finished my grading and have posted provisional fall term grades for both of my Music 1A: Introduction to Music classes. Students who are members of the class web site may log in and then click on the online grades link in the sidebar to see the current grade report.

A few last-minute notes:

  • Although your extra credit summaries do not appear in the grade listings, they have been recorded and included in your course grade. You may check the Extra Credit page to see my record of who turned in extra credit work.
  • One class got a "free quiz" grade on a low attendance day early in the term, and those grade changes have now been entered. (This explains why a few of you might see one surprisingly high grade for one quiz on which you earned a lower score.)
  • I was surprised that a few students who had been generally doing OK in the class disappeared during the closing weeks of the term. If you are among them and you have not contacted me, time is running out for you to do so. In almost all cases, you will earn a failing grade if you don't contact me.
  • In a some cases I was a bit surprised (and, OK, a bit disappointed...) that students did not take my recommendation to heart concerning how to make sense of all the composers we looked at during the Romantic and 20th-Century eras. On the written section of the test, in one class more than the other, some students did not earn as many points as they might have earned if they had at least recalled which composers belonged to which era. Live and learn!
