Test 2 Info
As you know, test #2 is tomorrow - Wednesday, November 11. As per the course calendar, the focus of this test is on the units/lectures on Baroque and Classical era music. The format is essentially the same as that on test 1: a Scantron section and a section where you write on the exam. There may be listening items as well - they will likely ask you to identify the type of piece that you hear. (We did a question like this in class on Monday when we looked at the concerto form.)

I do not do an in-class review. However, if there are subjects you want to discuss, click the Post New Topic link in the Discussion section of the sidebar and post there.

Concert Review Notes
I have finished - finally! - grading your concert reviews. I will not take time to distribute them in class today. However, grades are posted, reviews are available for pickup today, and I will bring them to tomorrow's test sessions also.

I was not able to finalize grades for a few papers. It is not necessarily that these papers have problems - in fact some will end up with grades of "A" - but there are some things I need to discuss with the following students before assigning a grade:
  • Cai
  • Song
  • Olah
  • Martinez, A.
  • Tran
There were many fine reviews among this big group of papers. In some cases I saw certain issues that can be easily avoided on the upcoming concert report assignment. A few notes:
  • Do carefully follow the format guidelines. It isn't that I'm trying make you follow arbitrary rules. Rather, the format is designed to make your paper writing more organized and to make it easier for me to follow what you write.
  • Don't submit your paper late - prepare ahead and get it in on time. A number of students would have earned a higher grade if their paper had come in on time.
  • Check with me well before the due date if you would like me to preview your paper or if you have questions.
