Extra Credit Concerts for Fall 2009
I posted the first of what will eventually be perhaps 10 or so concerts eligible for extra credit in Music 1A. These are end-of-term concerts by De Anza Music Department performing groups - no other events are eligible for this extra credit. The basic concept is that you'll attend events (as many as three if you want) and submit a very brief written document on each of them - full details are found on the Extra Credit page, along with an evolving list of events that qualify.

Two Important Schedule Changes for Week 8
As I work to balance the need to give sufficient time to certain subjects with the need to keep moving forward - the term ends sooner than you think! - I have decided to make two important changes to next week's schedule:

Test #2 is now delayed by 24 hours until WEDNESDAY, November 11. (It was originally scheduled for Tuesday.) As per the calendar this test focuses on the Baroque and Classical eras.
Next week's quiz will be at the end of the week rather than at the beginning - it will be on THURSDAY, the day after the test.

I am not changing the due date for either the online discussion topic or the listening assignment.

Three Brief Announcements (11/4/09)
I have updated the quiz grades to included corrected grades for quiz 4, corrected scores for quiz 5, and grades/scores based on this week's quiz.

I have updated the concert list to include events through next Tuesday. This weekend would be one good time attend your second concert.

Quiz Grade Error
I made an error when reporting last week's quiz grades - not all grades were included in the update. I am aware of the problem and I'll try to fix it within the next 24 hours. (I believe that the problem mostly affects grades for the 9:30 class.)

Monday Morning Grade Updats
I have updated all four of the grade /"printouts/" at the online grades page (not including the final course grades, of course) to include more recent work and to correct a few small errors. Remember that it is always a good idea to check your online grades for several reasons: to let me know if you think there is an error, to track your progress in the course...

Important Announcements about Enrollment Status, Tests, and Reviews
Two important announcements:

I assume that any students who did not take test #1 and who have not spoken to me should be dropped from the class. If you missed the test and do NOT want to be dropped you MUST speak to me before the end of this week - or you WILL be dropped.
It typically takes me about two weeks to finish grading the concert reviews...

Considering that a concert review is due today (anyone up until 3:00 a.m.?) and that the next quiz is on the Classical era (when we have barely started on the Baroque), this week's quiz has been delayed until...

... Wednesday.

Grades Updated - Test Grades Posted
I have updated the online grades report to include most current grades, including:

Test 1 grades (the overall performance was quite good - the most common grade was an A!)
Online topics 1-4.
Homework 1 (I left the others at my office so I won't have them posted until sometime next week.)
Quiz 1-4 scores and quiz 1-3 grades. (As of Saturday evening a server problem is preventing this report from displaying correctly.)
