Monday 11/16
Hold off on hearing #6 until Wednesday. Described final project and reviewed deadline. Returned quizzes 1 and 2 and quickly re-reviewed them. Some work time on #6 or final project. Test 1 during last 45 minutes of period.
Tuesday 11/17
Mostly work time #7. Introduced the final project assignment. Accepted presentation proposals, returned with comments - and in some cases a request for revisions by Thursday. Posted the presentation schedule. Did NOT hear #7 yet since only two students were finished - will hear at start of class on Thursday.
Wednesday 11/18
Hear remaining project 6. Announced the final project and the schedule for the remainder of the term. Thursday 11/19
Work time on final project. Finalized topics and posted schedule.
Friday 11/20
Hectic class due to the two November holidays. Started with review of quiz 4. Then work time on project 6, along with explanation of final project and work time on that. In the end I did NOT get to hear #6, as there was too much else to do - will need to hear it during last class meeting. Introduced new material on EM history for quiz 3, which is due at start of period at next class. Also introduced autopunch/replace/cycle in Logic. Announced planned schedule for next class: Accept and review quiz 3, work time on final project, hear #6, test in last 45 minutes of that class.
---
Monday 3/2
Primarily work time on #6.
Heard the few remaining #5 projects. Announced next quiz (#4 ahead of
#3). Heard some #6 projects - it was due today, surprisingly - and will
hear others on Wednesday. On Wednesday, two options include the EM
history topic and starting work on the final project - or both.
Tuesday 3/3
Mostly
work time #7. Introduced the final project assignment. Accepted
presentation proposals, returned with comments - and in some cases a
request for revisions by Thursday. Posted the presentation schedule.
Did NOT hear #7 yet since only two students were finished - will hear
at start of class on Thursday.
Wednesday 3/4
Hear remaining project 6. Announced the final project and the schedule for the remainder of the term. Thursday 3/5
Work time on final project.
Friday 3/6
Note
that some significant adjustments had to me to the schedule of events
in order to complete #6 today and move on to the final project.
Reviewed
quiz #4. Announced change to #3 - I will present next week and it will
be due the following week, the same day as test #2. I heard remaining
#5 projects. Did NOT do the EM history topic today. Did NOT cover
drop/cycle (as on quiz #4). Will do both next time.
--- Monday 11/17
Primarily work time on #6. Tuesday 11/18
Mostly
work time on first rewire assignment. Introduced External tracks to
record MIDI control of Reason instruments. A lot of individual work
time. Will not do 6a/7 this term, but will incorporate these techniques
into final project this term. Individual troubleshooting. Outlined the
final project briefly. NEED TO: do detailed description of final
project, hear the rewire project, return the proposals and schedule
them. Wednesday 11/19
Today: DID NOT hear #6.
Discuss final project. EM topic #3 and announce quiz 3. (Still need to
review/introduce loop/overdub/punch recording techniques.) Thursday 11/20
Briefly
demonstrated the process of turning any sample into a sound for a NNXT
or NN19 instrument. Stated that this (assignment 7) would not be a
separate project this quarter, but would instead be incorporated into
the final project, with assignment 7 credit for doing this. AGAIN did
not hear 6 - will hear at start of period on TUESDAY. Announced
presentation schedule - which begins on TUESDAY. Friday 11/21
TALK
ABOUT REMAINING SCHEDULE! Collect and review quiz 3. Review the steps
to download, save, import, and edit an audio file. Review steps to
backup files on server and on memory stick. Go over final project
requirements. Assign quiz 4. Go over drop and cycle and the transport
window generally.
