Week 5 Summary - Fall 2007

Heard assignment 2. Reviewed "copy, loop, alias" for next assignment. Although #3 is due on Wednesday, I'll provide work time in class that day and allow playback as late as 10/29. Looked at editing note velocity (under "view") in the Hyper Draw view. Commented on headphone v. speaker quality issues. Announced that quiz #1 is due in one week, and explained the "technical issues" policy.

Primarily a work day on assignment #3 which is due at the start of the period next Monday. Also introduced basic uses of the Track Mixer window: insert effects, change the number and type of tracks appearing in the window, where to find volume/pan, etc.

Class gets an hour at the start of class next week to finalize project #4.

Introduced basic features of the mixer including use of effects inserts. Did a very quick version of the coverage of post-WWII tape music and its genres and effects - enough to cover the quiz that is due next week. Posted link to Poeme electronique at the web site. Other than that we may need to go over some of the items not listed here or under than "NOTE" that were covered in the MW class this week.
