Open Labs

During some quarters we may be able to offer some outside-of-class open lab time. If this additional lab time is available, times and days will be announced in class.

Electronic music students
may use available workstations during other electronic music class sessions as space is available. (Students enrolled in these classes always have priority over visitors hoping to get some extra open lab time, and those other classes for open lab time may have to use a different computer than they use in their class.) See the class schedule of a list of all electronic music classes.

Studio rules are strictly enforced. These include:

  • Access to A91 is limited to registered De Anza students currently enrolled in a class that meets in this classroom and uses the workstations for course-related assignments.
  • No guests ever allowed without permission from a faculty member.
  • No eating or drinking is permitted in the room.
  • This is not an open lab for non-class purposes. There are other general labs on campus (e.g. in the Learning Center) for other uses.
  • Only students currently enrolled in an electronic music class may use the lab during my classes.
If you allow anyone who does not meet these requirements to enter the room, much less use the equipment, you will lose your access to the classroom outside of your scheduled class - in other words, you will have no access to open lab hours. There could be other consequences as well, depending on the nature of the specific violation of this rule - e.g. repeated violation, what happens when unauthorized visitors are in the room and so forth.
