Bringing a Laptop for Your Intermediate Class Presentation
A few considerations for those of you thinking about bringing your laptops for your Intermediate Electronic Music class presentations:
  1. If you are thinking of bringing a laptop to show Powerpoint slides, a word document, a web page, etc... don't. We can do all of those things on the class computer. Simply bring in your files on a memory stick or CD, or else put them on the web somewhere so we can download them.
  2. If you are demonstrating software that is not installed on the class computer - for example, a Windows audio application - then you will need to use your computer. We have an audio output using a 1/8" stereo connection - like the plug on your iPod. For video your computer must be able to connect to a VGA connection in order to project your presentation on the classroom screen. If you do not know what this is you should take a look at the cable on the "instructors desk" right away.
  3. Make sure that YOU know how to switch your computer to a different monitor or how to mirror displays - since that is what you need to do in order to connect to our projector.
If several of you are presenting on laptops on the same day it can be a great idea to bring one laptop to share and to try your presentation out on that computer ahead of time.
