Spring Quarter Electronic Music Classes
The spring quarter schedule includes three sections of electronic music:

Music 51 - Intro to Electronic Music

Monday/Wednesday at 12:30-2:10 in A91
Friday-only at 10:30-1:50 in A91

This class is open to all De Anza College students. The focus is on entry-level skills with electronic music equipment and software that will let you create musical and related projects using a computer.

Music 8 - Intermediate Electronic Music

Tuesday/Thursday at 12:30-2:10 in A91

This class is intended for students who have completed Music 51: Introduction to Electronic Music, though it is also appropriate for other students who have sufficient background from other experiences. The class focuses more on sound design, sampling, and synthesis along with integrating various electronic music applications into a common work space.

Note About Spring Enrollment

During recent terms the electronic music classes have often filled by or before the first class meeting. If you want to assure your place in these classes it is a very good idea to enroll early - do not wait or your options may be gone.

Ironically, at the same time that the classes have become very popular it is no secret that the College faces extreme budget pressures that affect all students and all classes and programs. One effect of this is that under-enrolled classes are more likely than ever to be canceled. This means that you have another reason to enroll early - to ensure that the classes you want are not under-enrolled and subject to cancellation.

Bottom line: Do not delay registration for classes you want to take. Enroll early!

Music 51: Regarding Quizzes 3 and 4
I have decided to reverse the order of quizzes 3 and 4 this quarter; in other words, quiz 4 will be due before quiz 3. I have not yet set specific deadlines for the quizes with one important exception listed below:

For the Monday/Wednesday class Quiz 4 is due next Monday, March 9.

For the Friday-only class Quiz 4 is due next Friday, March 6.
