Intro to Electronic Music Assignments
Links to descriptions of Music 51 lab assignments are found below. The due dates and other important details of these assignments will be provided in class and during tutoring sessions. The assignments are subject to change and there may be additional assignments that are not listed here.
In general, these assignments will be evaluated on a technical basis only. The object of the assignments is to demonstrate your understanding of and ability to use the techniques that you have learned in class and during tutoring sessions. Since this class does not teach keyboard technique or composition your grade will not be based on these aspects of your projects.
(Important note about dates: Deadline dates from the previous term may continue to be listed here until I announce the assignment and current due dates in class.)
Assignment Guidelines
- Intro to Electronic Music Assignment 1
Monday Class: Due Wednesday, April 17, during the second half of the period.
(Friday, January 20 after the "rolling break"
for the Friday class - time subject to change.)
- Intro to Electronic Music Assignment 2
Monday, April 29 for the MW class - START of period. (Aim to finish the previous Wednesday)
Friday, January 25 for Friday class - END of period (actual playback delayed to START of Feb. 1 class due to instructor illness)
- Intro to Electronic Music Assignment 3
Monday, May 6 for the MW class - at START of class.
Friday, February 1 for the Friday-only class - near the END of the period.
- Intro to Electronic Music Assignment 4
Wednesday, May 15 at START of period - delayed by one class session.
Friday Feb 22 near start of period for the Friday-only class.
- Intro to Electronic Music Assignment 5
Wednesday, May 22 at START of period (tentative - may be delayed)
Friday, March 1 - second half of class for the Friday class. (tentative)

Wednesday, June 5 for the MW class. (tentative - may be delayed by one session)

- Intro to Electronic Music Final Project
Due at scheduled final exam session - see green sheet for details (Start 2-3 weeks earlier and consult with teacher as questions or problems arise)
Remember that all assignments must be turned in by the announced due dates in order to receive full credit. Late assignments are subject to a grade penalty and failure to complete the final project may result in a failing grade in the course. Check the course greensheet for more details.
