The Reading 211 course is a prerequisite for English 1A.
This course is designed to improve reading skills in the following areas:

I have taught the following two classes.
English Writing (EWRT 1A)
English Writing (EWRT 1B)
EWRT 1A is an introduction to academic reading and writing.
Extensive examination of a variety of texts (personal, popular, professional, and academic) from culturally diverse traditions. Practice in common rhetorical strategies used in academic writing. Composition of clear, well-organized, and well-developed essays with varying purposes and differing audiences, from personal to academic.
EWRT 1B is an Advanced Expository Writing course.
The course is designed to develop analytical, comparative skills in reading and writing. The class focus is on academic (interpretive, analytical, and argumentative) writing based largely on reading of literary/imaginative texts linked by a common theme or issue.

Pearls of Wisdom
The mind is a terrible thing to waste.
Poetry connects the conscious mind and the heart.
Success is not what you become, but what you overcome.
The greatest gift a teacher can give a student, is the gift of reading.
If you plan for this year you plant rice, if you plan for ten years you plant trees, if you plan for a hundred years you educate men.
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." William Butler Yeats
"What is written without effort is in general read without pleasure." Samuel Johnson
