Winter, 2009, Getting Started Notes:
THERE IS NO IN-CLASS ORIENTATION FOR EITHER HEALTH 21 OR NUTRITION 10
Nutrition 10 and Health 21 are online classes facilitated by catalyst, the campus online course management system. Only students enrolled in the classes have access to catalyst <https://catalyst.deanza.edu>. There will be no campus meetings for either Nutrition 10 or Health 21. You will not have access to the classes on catalyst until the first day of winter quarter, Monday, January 5.
If you are not familiar with or comfortable using catalyst go through the catalyst tutorial that can be accessed at the following URL <https://catalyst.deanza.edu/?pg=first>. No catalyst tutorial will be provided as part of the class.
- All enrolled students or students interested in enrolling are strongly encouraged to complete all pages of the on-line orientation and electronically submit the required Student Information Form. Students are responsible for knowing the content of the online orientation. Note that completing the online orientation does not enroll you in a class, nor does it give you priority to enroll. The online orientation is simply an orientation to distance learning at De Anza. The winter, 2009, online orientation is tentatively scheduled to be available to students on Monday, December 22, 2009. The online orientation can be accessed through the Distance Learning Center website: <http://www.distance.deanza.fhda.edu>
- All enrolled students are required to have consistent, convenient, and reliable computer access and high speed internet service. Students are required to have a computer that has an installed and functional current version of MS Word and QuickTime. Students who cannot consistently access the class, complete homework as required, take exams online or who do not have access to high speed internet should consider taking an on-campus class.
I'm looking forward to winter quarter!
