Advice for Quiz #2
Instructions: You will have approximately 25 minutes to answer 5 questions, which will include short answers, T/F, and short essays. Quiz #2 will be done independently but allows for the use of a paper "cheat sheet" that is no larger than 8½ by 5½ (half-sheet of paper). You can write/print on both sides of your cheat sheet. All responses will be written on a separate sheet of paper which you need to bring. (23 points)

* Be able to explain in your own words the central points of Healey's chapters as they relate to racial/ethnic inequality.
* Be able to explain in your own words concepts, ideas, arguments, and key terms/phrases from Healey Ch 3-5.
* Be able to provide specific historical examples or provide supporting historical evidence to explain Healey's concepts, ideas, arguments, and key terms/phrases.
* Be able to connect the video ("Race: The Power of an Illusion - The Story We Tell) with concepts, ideas, arguments, and key terms/phrases from Healey Ch 3-5.

* persistence of racial stratification and African Americans

WEEK 6-7: AMERICAN INDIANS, TRIBAL SURVIVAL, AND CHALLENGES TO THE ASSIMILATION MODEL

Special Extra Credit (up to 10 points) - Due : Thur (May 17) and Tues (May 22):
You can submit a Reading Response for this Thursday's and next Tuesday's reading assignments. The Reading Responses should be:

• typed, single-spaced, one-page maximum (11-12 font)
• about your reflections on that day's reading assignment and provide a response to the questions on the syllabus for that day's reading assignment

For each  Reading Response, you can earn up to 5 points (depending on the clarity, depth, and thoroughness of your discussion). Reading Responses are due on the day that the reading assignment is to be completed: Thur (May 17) and Tues (May 22). No late Reading Responses will be accepted.
