Course Management

Course management tools such as Etudes and WebCT are useful to any instructor who wants to teach online. However, these programs are especially valuable for those planning to teach blended or hybrid courses where face-to-face contact is limited or absent.

Course management programs provide instructional sites for each course where students can find instruction, communicate with classmates and the instructor, and take tests. Instructors can provide instruction (including audio, graphics, and interactive materials), lead and/or monitor discussions, monitor student progress on lessons/exams, and maintain grades.

The primary course management programs at DeAnza are presently WebCT and Etudes. As the courses are hosted at a statewide CVC server, dates and procedures are critical.

Etudes training is offered by Foothill College in two forms: A 2-week online course and a self-paced tutorial. For details, see:
