Listed below are some low- or no-cost alternative tools not supported by Deanza personnel:
° Create webpages using other programs or HTML.
ADVANTAGE: You can make your pages look just as you would like; courses are available on campus.
DISADVANTAGE: Requires more technical skill.
° Use portals such as Yahoo which offer expanded email, listserv/bulletin board/chat services.
ADVANTAGE: Fairly easy to use, can be made private, and is familiar to many students.
DISADVANTAGE: Interface changes frequently.
° Use sites provided by the publisher of your textbook.
ADVANTAGE: Vary with each publisher, but they are maintained by the publisher.
DISADVANTAGE: Less flexible than one you create yourself.
° Use Etudes, Foothill's course management system.
ADVANTAGE: Courses and support are provided by ETS at Foothill.
DISADVANTAGE: Few DeAnza instructors use this system.
