Certificate Checklists

Use the following checklist to decide which certificate will meet your teaching needs.

Certificate I: Web Site Development

Outcomes:
__ Develop a well designed instructional web site.
__ Communicate effectively with students using email and listservs.
__ Make your website accessible for students with disabilities.

Prerequisites:
__ Understand file structure and managing files on your computer.
__ Access to the Internet from your computer.

Project Worksheet: (Course 18 hours)
  1. Provide a simple graphic outline of your web site with title for each page and arrows to show the links to subpages (number the subpages).
  2. Briefly describe how five subpages facilitate student learning.
  3. Briefly describe two ways you plan to use email or listservs to work with students.
  4. To which group did you present your website? e.g department, division, college When? What were some responses of the group?
  5. How did you make the website accessible?
  6. How will go about posting your website?
  7. Attach the Certificate Course Checklist of core and elective courses you have taken which has been signed by the project course instructor.

Certificate II: Classroom Presentations

Outcomes:
__ Develop a well designed lecture presentation.
__ Incorporate images, sound, links to simulations into presentations.
__ Communicate effectively with students using email and listservs.
__ Make your presentation accessible for students with disabilities.

Prerequisites:
__ Understand file structure and managing files on your computer.
__ Access to the Internet from your computer.
__ Access to a computer connected to a projection system.?

Project Worksheet: (Course 18 hours)
  1. Print your presentation six slides per page.
  2. Briefly describe how five slides facilitate student learning.
  3. Briefly describe why you included two images or links in your presentation.
  4. Briefly describe two ways you plan to use email or listservs to work with students.
  5. To which group did you present your presentation ? e.g department, division, college When? What were some responses of the group?
  6. How did you address the accessibility needs in your presentation?
  7. Attach the Certificate Course Checklist of core and elective courses you have taken which has been signed by the project course instructor.


Certificate III: Designing Online Instruction

Outcomes:
__ Organize and manage online discussions for effective student group collaboration
__ Write effective group assignments
__ Evaluate and assess student work
__ Make your website accessible for students with disabilities

Prerequisites:
  • __ An existing well designed instructional website with graphics and links.
    __ Ability to use and manage individual and group email and post on listservs.

    Project Questions: (Course 18 hours)
    1. Provide two online assignments and describe they will promote student learning and collaboration. How will these be managed?
    2. Provide two typical bulletin boards postings and explain why this method will be used to effective student communication.
    3. Provide two student evaluation examples to assess the effectiveness of your online portion of the class.
    4. What accessibility issues have your addressed? How?
    5. Which bulletin board, chat software do you plan to use? Why?
    6. To which group did you present your project? e.g department, division, college When? What were some responses of the group?
    7. Attach the Certificate Course Checklist of core and elective courses you have taken which has been signed by the project course instructor.


    Certificate IV: Online Course Management

    Outcomes:
    __ Design a basic course for delivery in a selected course management system
    __ Incorporate online collaborative learning project activities
    __ Consider student learning styles in course design
    __ Develop online quizzes and self tests

    Prerequisites:
    __ An existing well designed instructional website with graphics and links.
    __ Ability to use and manage individual and group email and post on listservs.

    Project Questions: (Course ? hours)
    1. What course management tool are you using? What features will you use to manage your online course?
    2. Who have you contacted to get your online course available to students?
    3. Provide two online assignments and describe they will promote student learning and collaboration. How will these be managed?
    4. Provide two student evaluation or self assessment examples to assess the effectiveness of your online portion of the class.
    5. What accessibility issues have your addressed? How?
    6. Provide two examples of assignments or posting which address different learning styles.
    7. To which group did you present your project? e.g department, division, college When? What were some responses of the group?
    8. Attach the Certificate Course Checklist of core and elective courses you have taken which has been signed by the project course instructor.
