Site Purpose

THIS SITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

In the eyes of students, using technology can improve the effectiveness of your course. Highlights from a study of 2,054 two- and four-year college students by the Pew Internet & American Life Project (San Jose Mercury, 10/19/02, p. C1) disclose that:

• 79% agreed or strongly agreed that Internet use has had a positive impact on their college academic experience.
• 46% agreed that email lets them express ideas to a professor that they would not have expressed in class.
• 48% are required to use the Internet to contact other students in their classes.
• 68% reported subscribing to mailing lists on which they carry on email discussions about topics they are studying.
• 58% have used email to discuss or find out a grade from an instructor.

Ann Koda and Phyllis Yasuda, retired De Anza instructors, are developing this website as a roadmap of courses, procedures, contacts and resources which faculty can use to enhance instruction by using technology effectively.
