Write a two-page paper that gives an answer to one of the following questions. After the paper has been criticized in class, you will have a chance to rewrite it. The polished paper must be typed and double-spaced. All papers should contain a summary of the main ideas you refer to and a thesis of your own with support for your own thesis.
1- Does Taoism have a moral lesson to teach?
2- Explain and argue for or against the idea that a leader should lead by not-doing.
3- Explain and argue for or against the view of human nature in Taoism.
4- Explain and argue for or against Lao Tzu’s approach to economics.
5- Can a society be run according to Taoist principles? Why or why not?
6- Explain the relationship between thoughts and feeling in Taoism and compare this
with Plato. Argue for one or the other.
7- Use an idea from the Tao te Ching to criticize and idea in The Republic or vice versa.
8- You can write about some other issue raised in the text. Make sure your paper has a single clear thesis and that you deal with some significant idea in the Tao te Ching.
