Aristotle, Platonism, Hypatia, Epicurus, and Feminism Paper Topics

1- Explain the relationship between happiness and virtue in Aristotle's ethics. Support or criticize this approach to ethics.

2- Was Aristotle a relativist? Explain and support or criticize the relativist elements in Aristotle's philosophy or argue that he was not a relativist.

3- Explain the grounding Aristotle gives for the specific virtues he discusses. How do we know what is virtuous? Support or criticize.

4-Compare Aristotle and Plato on an aspect of their philosophy of friendship, love, truth, or politics. Argue for the superiority of one view over the other.

5-Argue for or against the claim that the forms of sexism evident in Plato or Aristotle are still with us.

6- Compare Aristotle's view of the relationship between mind and body (or thought and passion) with that of Plato. You can refer to all of the works of Plato that we read, or refer in your interpretation to one text. Argue for the superiority of one view over the other.

7-Explain Aristotle's philosophy of responsibility and support or criticize it.

8-Argue for or against the claim that Platonism is alive in our culture as a whole or in contemporary forms of Christianity, Islam, or Judaism.

9-Argue for or against the claim that Hypatia’s being a woman matters to her philosophy.

10-Aruge for or against Epicurus’ approach to ethics.

11- Argue for the superiority if Epicurus’ or Aristotle’s approach to ethics compared to the other.

12-Chose a topic of your own related to Aristotle, Platonism, Tuana, Epicurus, or Hypatia.
