My Fondest MemoryDear John,
Those of us at Foothill have always had fond memories of your tenure here, before you moved to De Anza. Of course, the stories abound, but the one that I want to recount to you has nothing to do with Foothill but has to do with a story you wrote for a Sunday newspaper magazine supplement. I am sure you will remember the one. It was about the boys washing your Volvo and how they wanted to help, and how impressed you were until one of them, was it Timothy?, said that they were all done and also had "filled up the car with gas." Much to your consternation, when the words sunk in, they has "gassed up" the car with the water hose. I still remember laughing so hard at the entire article that I had tears in my eyes. You are such a gifted writer and I always enjoyed reading your work. Herbert and I will keep you and your family in our prayers.
