Good Enough for My Daughter!Good enough for my daughter!
I always learn from my interactions with John. Over the years, a brief passing on campus would turn into half hour discussions about academic standards, honors program, faculty apathy, and “what’s right.” When I spoke to the Language Arts division faculty about raising the mathematics graduation requirement, John was the fist to stand and support me. He announced that he was the one who initiated the English graduation to English 1A over twenty years ago.
Last year, my younger daughter needed English 1A. I looked to see who was teaching a particular term. I gave my daughter two choices. She chose John’s hybrid class. John always seemed to answer her emails within a few hours, even on Sundays. He prepared her so well that she was able to earn solid A’s in her English classes this year at Stanford.
I will miss you, John, in your retirement. Thanks for being my friend!
