Mr. Lovas was a genius. I can't really descirbe it any other way. I had
Mr. Lovas for only two quarters of English, but I realize exactly what
Mr. Lovas was doing. He disguised it as English, but he was teaching us
how to become better humans, as corny as that sounds. I say this
because before I had taken Mr. Lovas' class, I was just another lost
high school student who felt college just simply as "the next step".
Towards what? I didn't know. But Mr. Lovas changed that. His
assignments and discussions were meant to teach students their own
reasoning and logic. He made us realize what makes us think the way we
do, and where it might take us. Most importntly, in my case and
probably for many others, he made me realize where I want to go with my
life and why. I feel this is a very important idea, probably the single
most important thing someone can learn in one's life. Lots of teachers
teach subjects like math, chmistry, physics, etc... but what good is
that knowledge without the desire to do something with it? Mr. Lovas
taught me why I want to use that knowledge and what to use it for. He
gave me the motivation which drives me to this day. Mr. Lovas was
teaching us how to be productive, happy, and successful human beings.
Without Mr. Lovas, I may never have realized this. I feel that lots of
people never really sit down and spend a lot of time thinking about
where they're going with their lives. Perhaps it was just me, but
because of Mr. Lovas alone, I figured out exactly what I want to do
with my life. No longer do I stop to ask myself "why am I putting
myself through all of this". Mr. Lovas helped me learn exactly why.
I've stopped asking myself that question and push forward knowing I
have reason to do so. Mr. Lovas' ability to teach such a basic and
necessary idea to his students is amazing. He gave me the mindset that
got me to where I am today. It will probably take me far into the
future as well. I know that the quality of life of many students Mr.
Lovas has taught
has increased dramatically because of his instruction. Mr. Lovas did a
great thing with his life and I thank him dearly for it. I never really
got a chance to tell him all of this though, which is the one thing I
regret. I'm sorry if what I just said is a little repetitive, I just
hope this explaination on how he affected my life is descriptive
enough. Mr. Lovas changed my life so dramatically in such a short
period of time. This is why I think of Mr. Lovas as a genius, in every
sense that word can take on. It takes something truely unique to do
such a great thing. This is why I feel that regular compliments just
don't cut it for Mr. Lovas. I can't think of anything I can say to
describe just how great of a man he was.
