| John:
You've always cared immensely about Foothill-De Anza, our campus and each one of us. For that, I want to say thank you.
Our impromptu conversations touched upon a wide range topics, we didn't always agree, but it was always fun and enlightening to hear your particular point of view. When you lost your dear son, Gregory, you shared your pain and your love for him in a letter to your entire De Anza family. You taught us to be open; and you taught us that individuals can make a difference in this large, ever-changing environment.
De Anza will greatly miss your candor, your historical perspective, and your dedication to teaching and learning. Never forget that you made all your colleagues and students better off for having known you.
What a coincidence that we are leaving De Anza at the same time. It has been quite a journey, and I'm truly grateful that our paths crossed now and again!
With my highest regards,
Janice Winkel
