STUDY EACH WEEK'S ASSIGNMENTS:
The primary course content comes from the readings. The videotape programs are intended to emphasize and illustrate the reading material. You are tested on information from both the textbook and video programs. If, for any reason, you miss watching a video program during the assigned week, you should still keep current with your reading assignments. Work on the lessons in the following order:
a. Read the Student Guide for each video program before viewing the program. The Study Guide has a special summary termed "Preview". Read this very carefully, and go over the specific terminology listed under "Terms and Concepts".
b. Now watch the video program. Don't take notes while viewing your video program!
c. Briefly review the materials of that particular video program in the Study Guide and the Textbook assignment related to that particular video program.
d. Do all the exercises and test yourself on the "Self-Test" section of the Study Guide

TESTING AND GRADING:
All tests are composed of 74 multiple choice questions for a total value of 220 points and 2 extra bonus questions. To these are added 30 points from homework for a course total grade of 250 points. Test questions are selected from a test bank that accompanies Haviland's textbook.

Exam #1: Thursday, January 28; 5:30-7:00 PM; Room SC-1102 (Exam #1 covers Video, and Student Guide Lessons 1-6 and corresponding textbook readings, including chapter 7.)

Exam #2: Thursday, February 25; 5:30-7:00 PM; Room SC-1102 (Exam #2 covers Video, and Study Guide Lessons 7-12 (first half of lesson 12 on political organization) and corresponding textbook readings.)

Exam #3: Thursday, March 25; 8:30-9:30 PM; Room SC-1102 (Exam #3 covers Video, and Study Guide Lessons 12-17 (second half of lesson 12 on political control) and corresponding textbook readings.)
Please Note: Mark your calendar for the dates of the test, to make sure you do not schedule any other activity during the test time slot as no make-up testing is available on campus. You must take the last test to pass the course as the final is based on the last part of the assignments (from 2nd. test on). If you need to drop or withdraw from the class make sure to initiate the drop yourself and not expect the instructor to do it, as it is hard for an instructor to know your intentions in a DLC course. According to college policies, If you do not drop a class in time, you will get an "F" in the course.

Exam Scores: Exam scores are emailed to students a week after the test. Please Note: The points you get on your test indicate the number of correct answers out of a total of 72 questions. Compute your percentage point by dividing your score by 72 and multiplying the result by 100. This will give you your % score.
