Take Home Exam
Total Value: 30 points
Students who get a “D” or an “F” on Midterm #1 can do this extra credit work to improve their grade. This take-home exam covers the same material as the midterm.
Please write at least one full paragraph for each question. Answers should be in the form of sentences and not an outline. Each question is worth 5 points.

3. Anthropologist Ann Kendall reintroduced an ancient technology that has improved the lives of the people in an Andean country. Identify the ancient technology ad explain why it was lost. Where was reintroduced and why? What impact is it having on the quality of life of the people of the area where it was reintroduced?
4. Question based on the original study: "The Ever-changing Family in North America" (Haviland Text, 11th. edition. pp 238-240 Since you are using now the 12th. edition, just type in the title of the article on Google and read the article online.): 1)Explain why the family in colonial time was not separated out, nor was "the home" seen as a retreat from the strain of the outside world. 2)The shift of production from the home to the workplace had an impact on North American family life that cannot be overstated. Describe this impact.
5. Outline the various mechanisms by which traditional foragers adjust population density and regulate population size in the short and long run in order to preserve their natural resources (the carrying capacity of their habitat).
6. Discuss the economic, social and political impact of multinational corporations in the world today. Use your textbook as a source.
