My name is Joanna Garcia and have been attending DeAnza since the fall quarter. I plan to stay for two years and then tranfer to UC Santa barbara.I was born and raised in San Jose. One of my favorite things to do is play soccer. Ive been playing for about 6 years. I really like this sport because i think its fun. I also like going out wtih my friends and have a good time. One of my greatest fears is having surgery again. I injured my knee about a year ago playing soccer. I guess you can say it can be a risky sport but i still like it.

                Hello everybody! I'm Michelle Hu who is neither too tall not too short. The others always say that I'm thin, but they don't know that my weight grows up stealthily; the others always envy that i have natural wave hair, but they don't know I always want to make it straight. I have a pair of big eyes and a pair of black eyebrows on my clean face; they are not too beautiful, but they are fit for me. People always think that I'm soft when they see me at the first time, but they don't know in fact, I am pretty strong, and I have much strength of will. I like to look at the sky when I have nothing to do, and I like to make some tiny and cute things by my own hands. =P

              I was born in China which is a traditional east country; that’s why my family is also very traditional. I love my family even though sometimes there are some conflicts. There is only one sentence about my family that I can tell, “My family is the source of my strengths.” =)

               I remember that I liked to draw caricatures when I was in high school in China, and there was a chance that I could join the 31^st Annual Chinese Caricatures. I n a rainy day, I took my hand-drawn series of caricatures in a binder to go home, after I got home, I found the binder was wet and the caricatures were destroyed by the rain drops. It drove me crazy, because I almost spent three months to draw those. I wanted to cry and I just wanted to give up, but my father told me, “Don’t cry, because cry can’t bring the caricatures back to you. Don’t give up, because that’s your favorite thing, and that’s your habit. You can redo it, and I know that you can.” After I heard that, I had courage to redo it, because I knew there was my father who was supporting me and was around me. After 16 days, I finally finished, and I was not behind the school’s stuffs, too. I felt so lucky and happy. That event effects me a lot, because I know if there was not my father, I wouldn’t get the award, and maybe I already gave up drawing caricatures by that accident. Thank for my families. =]
