Meet Gloria Heistein, ESL Instructor

I have been teaching part-time at De Anza since 1994. I have taught a variety of courses and levels: from 234 to ESL 024. However, I teach Listening and Speaking classes (ESL 251 and 261) more than any other.

Since 1999, I have coordinated the Cross Cultural Partners (CCP) Program at De Anza. Check the link on my homepage to learn more about this popular program.

I like teaching at De Anza because it has a friendly, supportive staff and faculty. The students are motivated to succeed in both their academic and vocational careers.

I particularly like teaching English as a Second Language because I can help students from all over the world improve their English and feel more confident about living in the US.

I hold an MA in Comparative Literature (French and Russian) as well as an MA TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

Besides my work as an adjunct instructor here at De Anza, I also teach Communication Skills in the Workplace, mostly to non-native speakers of English. I work with both individuals and groups.
