About Lydia

While I was interviewing for my current position here, I remember stepping onto campus and feeling my heart literally warm as I saw the diversity of students.

I began teaching English at De Anza College in September of 2000. Prior to my arrival here, I had taught for over eight years at various other institutions including UC Santa Barbara, Westmont College, Santa Barbara City College, and Allan Hancock College.I received my B.A. and M.A. in English Literature from UCSB. One day I might finally finish my dissertation entitled "W(h)istful Expectations: Gambling in Victorian England." (Anybody wanting to give me a 'kick in the butt' towards this endeavor is highly welcome.)

When I'm not teaching, I'm enjoying every minute I get to spend with my lovely daughter (or I'm wishing I were playing volleyball and basketball or singing in a rock/blues band).

Please stop by my office sometime to chat! I enjoy talking not only about writing and literature but, equally as important, about UCLA and Lakers basketball games.
