About Lydia
While I was interviewing for my current position here, I remember stepping onto campus and feeling my heart literally warm as I saw the diversity of students.
I began teaching English at De Anza College in
September of 2000. Prior to my arrival here, I had
taught for over eight years at various other
institutions including UC Santa Barbara, Westmont
College, Santa Barbara City College, and Allan
Hancock College.
I received my B.A. and M.A. in English Literature
from UCSB, where I am also a doctoral candidate in
Victorian Literature. I will receive a Ph.D. in
200? upon completing my dissertation entitled
"W(h)istful Expectations: Gambling in Victorian
England." (Anybody wanting to give me a 'kick in
the butt' towards this endeavor is highly
welcome.)
When I'm not teaching, I'm playing volleyball and
basketball, singing in a rock/blues band, and
working on a variety of interesting books with Internet writer
Harley Hahn. You can see the books I've edited at
www.harley.com.
Please stop by my office sometime to chat! I enjoy
talking not only about writing and literature but,
equally as important, about UCLA and Lakers (and
now Warriors!) basketball games.
