COURSE DESCRIPTION: An introduction to the basic principles of pricing as they relate to the purchasing function in industry, including in-depth studies of pricing policies and disciplines. Stresses the definition, recognition, clarification of cost elements.

EXPECTED OUTCOME: The student, upon successful completion, will understand the basic economic theories underlying prices in a market economy, and the cost basis for pricing as well as other techniques employed as policy in everyday purchasing.

METHODS OF EVALUATING THE OUTCOME: A combination of homework, student participation in classrooom discussions, and the results of one midterm and one comprehensive final examination on course material.
