MATERIAL 54 CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION MR. GROVE

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will provide an overview of the contract administration process emphasizing the purpose of contract administration, basic contract law, contract management techniques, types of contracts, and post award functions. This class is intended to give the student a familiarization with all aspects of contracts and in particular the process of successful management to completion of a contract.

REQUIRED TEXT: Sherman, Stanley N. Contract Management: Post Award, Special Edition 1995 Wordcrafters Publications, Germantown, Maryland, 1995.

EXPECTED OUTCOME: The student will develop an understanding of the purpose of contract administration; learn basic requirements necessary for valid contract formation; understand the functions, levels and skills of contract management; learn how the principles of contract management are required in one form or another in all types of industries; and learn the methods of determining contract pricing and be able to distinguish when each contract type should be used.

METHODS OF EVALUATING THE OUTCOME: A combination of homework, student participation in classroom discussion, and the result of one midterm and one comprehensive final examination on course material.

OFFICE HOURS: As a general rule, I will be in the classroom approximately 15 minutes before class begins and I will stay after regular class to answer questions. In the event this is not convenient, I can be reached at 408-245-3864 or “yoteachone@aol.com”.
