ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR JOUR 2 STUDENTS:

  • Winter quarter begins Monday, January 5, 2015
  • A link to the syllabus will be posted here by the first day of classes.
  • Registered students must complete the Distance Learning Center online orientation (scroll down to the section "Course Information by Term") by noon Friday, Jan. 9, or they will be dropped from the class as having never attended.
  • I will add students who are on the waiting list if they email me requesting an add code between Sunday, Jan. 4 and noon Tuesday, Jan 6.  (I don't receive add codes from De Anza administration until the day before classes, so I'm unable to send them out earlier.)
  • The required textbook is George Rodman's Mass Media in a Changing World - 4th edition. It is important that you use the 4th edition, and not any of the earlier, less expensive editions. Class quizzes will be based on the 4th edition. We will read the entire book, front to back and you may start reading before the quarter starts if you'd like to get a head start.  See below for cost information.
  • For questions about other De Anza journalism/mass communications courses, please contact Department Chair Cecilia Deck at: deckcecilia@deanza.edu.

REQUIRED TEXTBOOK:

Mass Media in a Changing World - 4th edition - by George Rodman

RECOMMENDED ADDITIONAL TEXTBOOK:

Media Career Guide: Preparing for Jobs in the 21st Century by James Seguin and Sherri Hope Culver (any edition)
