Instructor Background

I ate fried weasel once on a camping trip and didn't throw up.
It tasted like chicken.
I also never played the accordion.
I have spent a fair amount of time in Lodi, California working at my uncle's car wash. At one time he had a monopoly on all of the carwashes in Lodi.
He owned both of them.

Let's give you a logic test. Based on the information above, Lodi must be:

a. a big city with only two car washes
b. a small town
c. I don't know
d. I don't care
e. What's the difference?
f. All of the above
g. This is stupid

If you answered b, you are correct. If you answered f, you'll do really well in my courses. If you answered g, you might want to take another instructor who is better looking and doesn't make his students sing so much in class.

More on my life story:

One of the less interesting jobs I held while going to college was a forklift driver for California Canners and Growers.
One night I spilled over two tons of peaches.
What a mess!

Continuing with the mundane - I have been at DeAnza since the 1984-1985 academic year where I teach courses in Accounting and General Business. I have also been a lecturer in a couple of the MBA programs here in the Bay Area as well as a lecturer for UC Extension.

In addition to teaching, I have consulted with several firms in the Santa Clara Valley and have worked with some of the largest companies here as well as some startups. Prior to coming to DeAnza I worked in high technology, investment banking and public accounting. I have MBA and BA degrees from Santa Clara University, an AA from San Joaquin Delta College, am a certfied public accountant (MT, inactive) and hold an Enrolled Agents License (special license to practice before the IRS). I hold a California Real Estate Sales license and am qualified to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). I also have an MA in English (Creative Writing) from Notre Dame de Namur University and have been a lecturer in English at a couple of the area colleges.
