one page papers

Each class period, a response page is to be written. This response can be written in the first person, and must be referenced. Within the confines of this class, these pages will be called Journal Entries. Entries are due each Wednesday. As you come in the classroom, please place them in a pile on the desk.

The entry can be about any theory presented in class or from the reading. It is my advice that you go home and type it as soon as you can so that your thoughts about it are fresh. In the real world, this does not always happen. So, make sure you reference everything properly, the “journal tips” have been read, and your ducks are in a row. I do not expect you to be experts at APA format immediately, however, if your learning curve does not rise, we have a problem. On the main page of the website on the left hand side are all sorts of online resources to aid you in referencing and understanding the process. We will also go over it in class.

In terms of the journal topics, most of these are up to you. I have provided some ideas below, and there are a few that are required, but most of them are you choice. What fired you up about the conversation? If the only thing you do is what I suggest, then you have made it clear to me that you regard these entries as busywork, and do not plan to apply psychology to your life. You probably will not do as well in the class if you are not engaged in the material.

For those of you with A type personalities a Journal Example can be downloaded. It is an example of how to write “A” journal entries.
