First read this book:
If you are deeply religious and are choosing to read this book, then I immediately applaud you, for it may challenege your views about your doctrine. Let me know if I can aid you in the reduction of your dissonance.
A great thing about this book are the underlying social themes. A few questions to get you thinking are:
1. How does the Church use the Bible as persuasive propoganda?
2. How do gender issues challenge the doctrine within the Church?
3. Does symbology remain in the hands of its creators? Why or why not?
4. Explain the role of art within persuasion and media.
5. How does the intersection of art and the church remain?
6. How and why has history been recreated? Do you think it was reasonable given the politicla climate of the time?
7. How has the information in this book changed your personal views?
8. Are modern day images reminiscent of the theories in the book? How does pop culture represent these themes? Use advertisements or iconic imagery where relevant.
Your assignment: Write a 5-7 page expose of this book and answer one or more of these questions. Explain as many social psychology constructs as possible. Do not rant without back-up. Use APA format and formal referencing. The above questions are guidelines only and not to be taken as mandatory.
